How we ensure translation quality?

Our translation processes are mapped and tested.

CBS is committed to providing its clients with the highest quality translation services by assigning a project manager and a team of language professionals to each client’s project.

What kind of QA (quality assurance) do you provide? Is it included in your per-word rates?

Quality is inherent to everything we do at CBS.

Our QA begins with a global recruiting commitment. We identify elite linguists, vet and test them, and approve only the very best. This means that your content is produced by experts.

Each translation then receives a comprehensive, multilevel review that includes editing, proofreading, glossary and style guide alignment, and support from knowledgeable professionals.

We include all of these services in our per-word translation rates.

How we ensure confidentiality?

For projects involving sensitive information and documents, CBS practices signing confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements with its clients.

We can work with your standard agreement or offer our own template.

Additionally, all CBS translators and interpreters abide by the Translators’ Professional Code of Ethics set by professional translators associations around the world. This implies full confidentiality and non-disclosure of clients’ information.

What are the steps for a translation project?

A typical translation project involves several steps:
Translation > Editing > Proofreading > Desktop Publishing

Our expert linguists translate into their native language only and all of them have a degree and/or extensive experience in the subject matter of the material they translate.

For the majority of projects CBS utilizes services of in-country translators. After the translation is completed, an equally qualified professional, also a native speaker of the target language, independently checks the work for accuracy, grammar, and culturally appropriate style.

Finally, the project is reviewed by a proofreader and typeset by a desktop publisher.

How will you deliver the finished project?

There are various ways that a translation can be delivered to you: e-mail or download from our secure server or even overnight carrier.

We will deliver the documents to you according to your requirements.

What turnaround time can I expect?

This depends on project volume as well as content complexity.

We will estimate the timeframe and cost of your project at the same time.

Our record for meeting deadlines is excellent, even if the deadline is a tight!

Who will manage my project at CBS?

We will assign a Project Manager once we start working with you. This person will be in contact with you regarding your project requirements, expected turnaround time and other issues.

You will be able to contact the project manager with any questions that you may have during the course of your project.

How do you select the team for my project?

Our talent pool for language professionals hold linguistic degrees and in most cases certification and accreditation from the U.S. State Department, American Translators Association, or foreign translators associations.

When selecting a team for your project, we make sure that our translators have the language and industry expertise as well as the in-depth technical experience to handle your unique subject matter.

What security features does CBS implement?

CBS securely archives all of your documents on non-internet accessible workstations. We also would destroy all documents upon request.

We will never divulge any information related to you or your documents to any third party without your direct authorization.

How do I get a price quote?

We will give you a fixed quote upon learning the details about your project.
Written translation project cost have a few variables. Our prices are based on the document word count, subject matter complexity and requested turnaround of the translation.

Also, you can expect different rates for European and Asian languages, standard vs. rush jobs, small and volume assignments, simple and complex formatting and typesetting requirements.

We will review your request, additional information and then provide you with a complete estimate.

Is lowest per-word rate means the best price for the project?

Of course, no!
For example, some providers will offer a low per-word rate and then bill for everything you submit, with no effort made to screen for duplication or near-duplication. This can significantly inflate your costs.

Here’s a brief case study to provide some context:
A CBS client submitted 1.2 million words to be translated. By screening for duplication and eliminating redundant text, we were able to reduce the word count for translation to about 850,000. This yielded a net-effective per-word rate reduction of nearly 35%, and a savings to the client of more than $48,000 on this single submission.

If your provider isn’t screening for duplication, they’re costing you money, indeed, a lot of money! You also need to confirm exactly what your provider is including in their per-word rate. Is QA included? Project management? TM and glossary development?

Pricing transparency should be the rule, not the exception.
